Title: Thanks, Tobacco: You Killed My Mom
Author: sonicbondage
Description: This video was created over a one-year period. At first, it was just random use of a video camera, plus a few pictures taken during a visit in September of 2006. Of course, this was before we knew that Mom had a collapsed lung. She went in for tests, and it was discovered that she had Stage IV Lung Cancer. As we learned of the cancer diagnosis in October of 2006, we tried to get Mom down to California (from Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada). It was a race against logistics and paperwork (i.e. obtaining documentation in order to cross a border and travel), which we unfortunately lost. Mom suffered a stroke, ironically on the same day as she received her birth certificate, which would have allowed her to travel to Southern California. The stroke left her left side completely paralyzed, and she was stuck in the hospital, no longer the independent woman she once was. We were summoned to fly up immediately, as we were told by her doctors that her death would not be far behind. Mom proved them...

Comment: Thanks! Sorry you had to go through the same thing. I put the video up to prevent people from having to go through this, but I now realize there's so many people that die like this:(from the comments I get)
God bless you for showing the video to your loved ones and trying to make a difference.Author: sonicbondage

Comment: This broke my heart... My mother suffered as yours did from smoking and died last year. My father also died from smoking related instances. The real war on drugs should be against the tobacco companies. I miss my mother and life is so sad now...

Comment: My sincerest condolences to you and your family. I went through the same exact thing with my Dad (including taking him outside for his last cigarette). I admire your courage for making this video and I will make sure those I love will see it and know that our parents were people that deserved recognition and did not pass in vain. God bless!
